Our top 21 runners from each team traveled to Lehigh University on Friday to race in the highly competitive District 1 Championships. All runners put in an incredible effort for the team. Varsity girls finished 10th overall, their highest finish in 8 years. Varsity boys finished 9th overall, with a strong 1-5 spread. JV girls finished 3rd and JV boys finished 10th in their races, showing great depth for Haverford’s teams. Two of our runners, Mike & Katya, qualified for the State Championships in Hershey, PA on Saturday. We’re so excited that HXC still has one more race to go!
Our Fords fought hard on Saturday at the Central League Championship at Rose Tree. Both teams entered the race in third place overall, with the ambition to move up a few spots in the rankings. With the girls varsity beating Conestoga and boys varsity defeating Lower Merion, both teams finished the season with second place in the League! After Monday’s practice, we say goodbye to the majority of the team (until the banquet) while the top 21 runners continue training for District Championships.
HXC closed on their regular season with a race at Rose Tree against Penncrest and Ridley. The girls team had an easy victory against both teams, with the boys team battling against the undefeated Penncrest to lose one but win against Ridley. Both teams completed their seasons with a 9-2 record– bring on Central League Champs!
Our varsity girls team traveled to Carlisle, PA to race in a highly competitive meet against teams from around the state. It was a fast course, with all seven girls coming within seconds of their career PRs. It was a bit of a Districts preview for the team, who then got to celebrate their fast races with apple picking afterward!
